The Nutrition Society are one of several repeat clients with whom I’ve been lucky enough to work with for several years. I always look forward to their well-organised events across the UK which, whilst serious in content, always have a friendly and relaxed feel.

The annual Winter Conference, held at the beautiful Royal Society of Medicine on Wimpole Street in London, is the biggest event in the calendar and one I’ve photographed many times in recent years. The three days feature a packed schedule of lectures, presentations, panels, student poster sessions and networking. The evenings are then a mixture of awards presentations and networking sessions amongst delegates and sponsors.

Whilst much of the science soars over my head, the topics are interesting and the events are full of people engaged in the learning and networking with fellow professionals.

In my years of experience as an event photographer at the Royal Society of Medicine, I ind it a fantastic space for events – from the registration area, comfy and well equipped auditoriums (both large and small), the glass roofed space for networking and events, and a host of smaller meeting and breakout spaces. It’s a short walk to Oxford Street public transport too!

For previous events I’ve always provided regular image previews throughout the day for social media. This year was the first trialling a novel workflow to deliver to the Communications team at the Nutrition Society edited images for social media within 15 minutes of the start of each lecture and without leaving the hall or needing a computer.
